ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT: BETH

When did you start training at Max Limit CrossFit?

I joined Max Limit as a founding member approximately two years ago.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?

A friend of mine, whom is a CrossFit trainer, encouraged me to try it.

What was your first workout and how did it go?

I don’t recall the exact workout, but I do remember it having HSPU’s and thinking I’ve never done a handstand before, so how the heck am I going to do this?  Since CrossFit was created to allow modification of all movements to match the ability of each athlete, I could do the modified version.  Which was sitting on the floor with my legs straight in front of me while holding dumbbells in each hand and then pressing straight up

Favorite workout and/or movement? Why?

My favorite movements are back squats and deadlifts.  I like pretty much every workout that does not include running

What is your favorite memory so far at Max Limit?

The camaraderie at Max Limit is the best.  Not only are the coaches helping & encouraging everyone, but your fellow CrossFitters are right there alongside you cheering on.

What changes have you experienced in your life after starting CrossFit?

Feeling healthier & stronger both emotionally and physically.  It also has taught me that anything, regardless of your age or athletic ability, is possible.

Do you have any advice for people who are new to CrossFit?

CrossFit is FUN, but tough.   Do not be intimidated by the other athletes, everyone is there for the same purpose—to better themselves.  You will be sore after the first workout and every one after that, but it’s the best feeling of accomplishment.   The most important thing to remember is that it doesn’t matter if you finish the WOD first or last—but that you did it.
